A man died Thursday after being shot in a Maybach on I-20, DeKalb County police said. His name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.He was a music executive and affiliated artistically with Future through his Freebandz recording imprint.
The incident happened in the area of I-20 westbound at Glenwood Avenue around 5:15 p.m.
Witnesses told police that shots were fired from a white SUV, which fled the scene, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.
According to news reports, OGD was traveling westbound on I-20 when his black Maybach Mercedes vehicle was riddled with bullets (which left several shots to the victim body and head).An off-duty Atlanta police officer was the first person on the scene, stopping after noticing gunshot damage to a vehicle that was partially in the right lane and on the shoulder of the interstate. Because all the doors to the vehicle were locked, the officer broke a rear window in an attempt to help the victim, she said. The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died.
The Maybach is “quite an expensive vehicle,” Parish noted. The car, which has a Florida license plate, was damaged from multiple gunshots, and police recovered shell casings along the interstate.
Authorities do not have a motive or suspect, Parish said. The investigation is continuing and police urge anyone with information on the case to come forward. Via ATL Night Spots
